I took 2 cars into Kenneth's for regular maintenance (oil change, air filters check, tire rotation, and alignment). They took the first car on a Friday and did not work on the car until Monday. The delay was a surprise, but okay. Second, they identified a leak in a seal on the transaxle. Okay, I checked with my son-in-law who is a master mechanic for the car manufacturer, he said it happens and was not unlikely. So add that to the bill and fix it. In the process of fixing it they tore the boot. Needless to say, the car was laid up for about a week. Figuring that that was a fluke, I brought the second car in for the same service. Low and behold both ball joints, upper and lower control arms, rack & pinion steering were damaged and they could not do the alignment. They charged for 1/2 the alignment but did not complete it. They gave me an estimate for about $1700 to replace the whole mechanism. It's a 12 year old $3000 car with over 150,000 miles on it. So I said no, and took the car home. BTW, the car never pulled and the steering was always tight (especially after alignments). About a month later, the service light came on (you know the reminder for regular service/oil change). They hadn't reset it when they did the service. Oh well. I later took the car to another shop that did the alignment and reset the service light. The problem with the steering didn't stop the other shop from doing the alignment. Admittedly there are aspects that cannot be aligned on the car because they have no adjustment. The car is 12 years old, doesn't pull, the tires wear evenly (and have tread with over 50K miles on the tires). It's funny, but the other shop didn't even mention the steering issue. So here's my take on Kenneth's, The prices were higher than average. The service took longer than expected. They looked for issues that may or may not have been an issue. They upsold repairs for both cars. They forgot to reset my maintenance light and charged me for 50% of work I requested but was not done. They gave me an estimate for something I did not request, and made little sense for the age, mileage, and price of the car. Overall, it was disappointing... times two. -------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: Unfortunately I had to downgrade my review from 2 stars to 1. Shortly after I had my car serviced at Kenneth's, it developed a rattle when driving. It was very noticeable on bumps and we all know that Texas roads are mainly bumps ... LOL! A short while later it developed a sizzle when driving at low speeds. You know that sound like ball bearings rolling/sliding against metal. As the rattle became worse over time, I felt it was getting dangerous. It wasn't just road noise. So I found a different shop since I was not happy with Kenneth's. The other shop found that one of the shock absorbers was working itself free. A bolt that secured it had come loose. It was only held in place by the weight of the car. One big bump and it could have been a disaster. Sadly, this is the same wheel that had its seal repaired by Kenneth's just a few months earlier. The new mechanic also discovered that a wheel balancing weight that had come loose. It was sliding around my rim making that sizzle sound. Interestingly Kenneth's also did the last wheel alignment, rotation and balance. Of course it can all be coincidental. I'm happy to report that my 12 year old car, that Kenneth's said could not be aligned because it needed new ball joints, upper and lower control arms, rack & pinion steering, etc., is still doing road trips. On one drive to Florida, I took it to a shop to replace the tires and get an alignment. I asked the mechanic if there was anything dangerous with the car. His answer was "No". I asked him is anything needed repair or replacement. He said "No." The car always handled great. After the treads and alignment, it's rock solid on the road ... still. -------------------------------------------------------

The test of time proves Kenneths Car Car is the best in NE Houston. I was surprised at the size of this place but was not surprised with it's service. Word of Mouth speaks very highly of this family run business. Keep up the good work. Highly recommend.
